The new Digg is filled with complaints about the new Digg and Diggers are Digging it.
The new version of Digg is only a couple of days old, and already it has generated a lot of errors and a lot of hate. Judging by what we’ve seen on Digg and elsewhere, including many tech blogs, a good portion, if not the majority of users hate the new Digg. Even if they might of liked it, the plethora of errors seen on the site so far have turned off a lot of people.
We’ve seen over the past few days that Digg was certainly not prepared for the new launch. The first problem people seemed to be noticing was that the site was very, very slow. They said they were ordering more servers. They should have been prepared for this. The first day they received about one million unique visitors when they normally get about 30,000 a day. They should have known that everyone with a tech blog would be covering this.
We also saw a lot of errors on the page, and a lot of fail oxen. People weren’t happy about this either.
It has been entertaining to watch all the complaints about the new Digg get Dugg. I’ve actually seen a few to make it to the first page of the top news section. It seems the only thing they’re doing right these days is not censoring complaints. But will they act upon these complaints? Only time will tell. Until then it looks like a lot of people are jumping ship and going to Reddit, myself included.
What has really entertained me is the multiple submissions saying “Kevin Rose: Do the right thing” such as this one, this one, this one (and so on) with links to pictures of the old Digg, some slightly modified with suggestions.
The new Digg isn’t being Dugg, and Diggers are using Digg to Digg the fact that they don’t like the new Digg.

anyone feel like i do? this is what i sent digg
….
youve probably received alot of flack about new design.
ive been a long time follower of digg since its inception. i still remember kevin rose talking on the screensavers about “this new endeavor” he is undertaking.
i had visited digg on average more than 4 or 5 times daily. and up to 20 minutes or longer checking out stories.
i may not have been signed in and or dugg alot along the way. but i was still a consumer that was viewing pages and seeing your advertisements on the website.
i chose to enjoy digg my way. but still enjoyed it often.
ive sat back and have given the new design a chance. right away at the beginning i didnt like it. but, i had devoted so much time over the past years, it was just part of my day.
i must confess, i probably had not visited slashdot or reddit more than once in the past few years.
i find myself on those sites a few times a day trying to get my fill of info. (mostly mindless info i crave, thats what i liked about digg) thats not an insult, its my way of relaxing.
i find your front page boring now, almost looks like the sidebars of national newspapers (usatoday) or magazines. all the stories are bland.
i also dont like the fact that i cant skip pages. i mean i used to click on perhaps page 8 or whatever from maybe page 2 i was on.
call me goofy. but, i do not like the fact that digg now delivers to me in order of what digg wants me to see.
i wish that some of the old user experience can be re-integrated into digg.
digg was awesome, unique. now, its like stumbleupon. if i sign in to digg it will try and stear me to what other people of my demographic like.
thats what i liked about old digg. i came across articles that i would have never known i was interested in. then i would read more on the subject, etc…. thats what i loved about digg.
i do use stumbleupon for a couple hours a week. its fun too. but its different.

I have to agree with what you’re saying.
Before v4 I had been using Digg for about 2 years or so. It wasn’t til about a year in I finally got an account. I liked being exposed to new things I didn’t know I’d be interested. I liked the ability to add friends, or not, to Digg and or Bury.
They had everything right in v3 minus power users and power buries, but they could have just worked out those issues.
V4 is basically a Mashable RSS feed, Reddit feed and SEO spammers site now.
The worst thing is they still aren’t listening to their users. Kevin Rose DO THE RIGHT THING!
