I created The Webmaster’s Place in February, 2010 because I wanted to provide the web design and development community with quality tutorials, news and articles. The site was originally planned to be a Digg-style resource for the web design community, but ended up as a site for my own web design tutorials.
The site has been the sole work of me, Mike McKeown, a 23-year-old web designer from St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I have been building websites since I was 11 years old, back in the day of 28.8k modems and cheesy globe animated .gif files or scrolling marquees on most websites. I now work full time as a freelance website designer, and also work on a few sites I own myself.
Besides web design, I also enjoy creating music. I am currently in a metal/industrial band called Glorious Death in which I play guitar and session keyboards. I also play bass guitar and mandolin. I also enjoy studying history and politics, cooking and Half-Life 2.
Here are some of the other websites I currently own:
4Layouts.com
A provider of quality free and low cost web templates, business card templates, logo templates and more. The site has been online since 2001 and is still growing strong.
HQ-Templates.com
HQ Templates started out as a clone of the 4Layouts premium templates section as an experimental site to test out new features, pricing structures and other ideas. I recently converted the site into a free web template site where designers can submit their free templates, WordPress themes and Joomla templates for people to download.
Free Website Hosting NOW!
This is my newest website, dedicated to providing quality hosting for free. Users get 1 gig of space, 10 gigs monthly bandwidth, cPanel with Fantastico, PHP, Perl, Ruby on Rails and much more… all at no cost! I will be working on promoting the site more and giving it a badly needed redesign.

Thank you for visiting my site!
